![]() Take Rhythm Heaven Fever for example with the level "Monkey Watch". While that is an option to getting around this level that requires Sectional Perfection, other rhythm games have better ways of getting around this problem. Not to mention that players generally don't like messing around in settings and just want to have a good time playing a video game in their busy lives. Sure, you can do things like go to the game's settings and lower the difficulty or slow down the speed of the song, but they're hidden behind settings that new players are not aware of and/or don't know what they change. Unless you are able to master this case of Sectional Perfection and pass at least one of the 2 skill checks, you cannot proceed and are forced to either grind it out and hope you can perfect the second skill check before you rage quit or enjoy only the specific levels you previously completed, locking out a good 60% of the game's content. The reason as to why this is horrible balancing for this specific case is because of the way story progression in this game works. The second "skill check" is a bit shorter than the first (by like 3 I don't remember exactly by how many) which is probably how I managed to pass the song and continue. The result was a B+ because I nailed the second "skill check", which resulted in my performance downgrading once. ![]() I have partially confirmed this through playing the level and intentionally missing the first "skill check" when the cups scale up to about 12 cups onto the tray and nailing everything else (besides like 2 to 3 other notes but that isn't enough to down a grade besides S+) This causes (in theory) to mark the previously stacked coffees count as misses, meaning it doesn't matter if you hit a fraction of the notes during that specific tempo shift, making extended lengths of this tempo damaging to the grade of your performance. If you mess up in these fast paced sections, the barista throws the coffee and hits the hospital worker, knocking down the previously stacked coffee cups and spilling the contents on the worker and the tray. These sections are noted by their extended length of the rhythm shifting into the fastest pace where the Barista throws the Hospital worker coffees onto a tray. The specific sections that require Sectional Perfection are the shifts between normal behavior to hitting the counter (not exactly clear), and hitting the counter to falling asleep on it. My personal definition of Sectional Perfection is "The Requirement to perform perfectly in a specific section/s to beat a level in a rhythm game." The main concept is instead of balancing rhythm levels based upon a percentage ratio between hits and misses to gauge the grade of performance, the level is balanced by having specific sections of a level act as a "skill check" where if you mess up inside one of these sections, your grade is downgraded a level. I think the main problem with this level is an unofficial term that I like to call "Sectional Perfection". ![]() I have tried to relax and take breaks every hour or so and tried to complete it with endless grinding and complete memory through endless repetition, but nothing seems to work. I have A+ on every song in the Main Ward and the SVT Ward except for Puff Piece. I have been trying to A+ every song and complete all the Night alternative songs and my only issue has been with This particular level.
